The Lawn Tennis Championships at Wimbledon have developed from the garden party atmosphere of the first meeting in 1877, witnessed by a few hundred spectators, to a highly professional tournament attracting an attendance of over 500,000 people and through the press, radio, Internet and television a following of millions throughout the world.

The Tournament starts each year six weeks before the first Monday in August and lasts for a fortnight or for as long as necessary to complete all events. Players from over 60 nations regularly compete.

The All England Lawn Tennis Club and IBM are pleased to launch the Official Web Site for Wimbledon 2004 here at www.wimbledon.org. Over the next few weeks we will be providing tennis fans with the fastest and most comprehensive coverage of The Championships anywhere on the web, including:

The Official Wimbledon Web Site is the only place on the internet where you can follow live point-by-point scores of every point, game, set and match played at The Championships.

Radio Wimbledon:
As in previous years, the Web Site will be featuring live audio commentary of The Championships through our very own radio station, Radio Wimbledon, from 8am to 10pm every day of the Fortnight.

News, Reports, Features and Analysis:
